Energist Ltd, based in Swansea, South Wales, UK was founded in 1999 and quickly became a leader in Pulsed Light systems based around its unique VPL variable pulsed light technology. A private company, Energist is controlled by Beaubridge and Westbridge. Beaubridge LLP is a specialist investor in small and medium sized companies. It aims to find investments of £20m or less that offer significant risk-adjusted returns. Beaubridge considers investments across a wide variety of sectors. In 2008 the company opened its Energist North America office just outside New York, USA.

In September 2012 Energist relocated its main US office from New York to San Marcos, California, USA.
